Intermediate Navigation

Get off the beaten track with this Intermediate Navigation course, designed to advance your navigation skills to allow you to do just that - EXPLORE with confidence!  

Following a path or track is great - but what do you do when the way disappears in front of you, or it's just not so clear. In a small group, you will work together to put into practice compass and relocation techniques as well as building on existing knowledge. 

Aim

You'll leave this session feeling confident that you can use a compass, walk off path and tracks, and have tools in your tool box for when things don't go to plan. (and for when they do!) We will also look at additional safety elements and kit advice.

Fitness Level & Terrain:

Set in hillier terrain, but no mountains, however, you must be happy with off road walking as terrain will be mixed. There will be moderate hills, and undulating terrain, some of it will be on rough terrain and off path. We would not be moving fast, walking at a steady pace with a lot of discussion stops. This day does not involve scrambling.

Fitness level 2 - max distance approx. 10km (6.2miles).
